Do I need a death certificate to notify these organizations?

Many will accept the funeral home's proof of death or a notarized copy. Some, especially banks, insurers and ServiceOntario for licence refunds, want an official death certificate.

Does telling Service Canada also tell the CRA?

Don't count on it. Contact both.

Who should make all these calls?
